Bringing Riley Home <3

The last couple of days husband and I have been preparing for Riley's arrival as if we were expecting a baby. We went shopping for new puppy toys (for teething), some tear free puppy shampoo, and all of his little necessities. Today is the day! We finally get to bring him home. Hubby built him a new dog house and today my sister and I painted it for Riley. I think he'll like it. We gave it spots :) I have a few pictures, but I think I'll wait to post them all when his house is complete (Whale is bringing home a smaller paint brush for detail work).

On Saturday Riley will meet his cousin Koopa (they have a play date) *grin*. And he'll get to see Aunt April and Uncle Troy again. It will be loads of fun! Then on Tuesday he will attend his first birthday party and meet my side of the family at the outdoor cookout :) He's gonna be a busy puppy, but one thing's for sure, he's gonna get LOTS of love and attention!

WELCOME HOME RILEY!

Update: Here are the pictures of Riley's home :)

Visiting Riley

Riley has changed so much since you saw him last! Just look at him now...

Complete, is the word.

A view of our dinning area from the living room :)

The living room all painted. Need to hide some TV wires and fill the walls but we're so happy to have it back to normal and have the walls finished!
Our lovely kitchen. You have no idea how nice it is to have the counter tops put back together. I had to walk to the kitchen table for everything! Haha!

Pssttt... The squash on the counter came from our garden yesterday! :)

And even more {in home improvement}

The kitchen is complete (as of yesterday, just don't ask if I have everything back in place...)! Painting is what we're here to discuss. And boy have we been painting!!! We've started (and completed) the first coat in our living room. I love the color. Husband mixed it especially to our taste. If you're wondering, "when will they stop?" Don't ask us! All we know is, our room is next! I think we'll keep going until there isn't a white wall in the house! :) And that, makes me very happy!

In Our Garden {again}

Our garden is sprouting before our very eyes!

We can hardly keep up with it.

We have baby squash!!! Not ready of course, but isn't it fun to see?

Do you like squash? Come over. We'll have dinner :)

The latest {in home improvement}.

Husband and I completed our furniture project some days ago and have moved our "brand new" faux iron bedroom suit back into the guest room. I can hardly wait to find a suitable decor!

Next up... Ceiling fan! We ordered our fan about a week ago and it came in yesterday. You have to love Lowes! The wonderful man that I married installed it while I was gone to First Aid Training late last night and it was such a nice sight to come home to. I love our new fan. The double light takes my breath away and makes for such a romantic setting.

Tonight, (you'd think we'd be ready to rest, right?) we started the kitchen painting!!!! I'm thrilled! Isn't it looking so great? Can't wait to see the whole house finished and decorated! Yay!

Riley's Boo Boo

We went to visit Riley again on Monday evening and sadly, we found him with a pretty bad hurt leg. His mommy apparently has dragged his little body around by his left hind leg and ripped it open with her sharp teeth.

This made me think about how sometimes parents do things thinking they are helping their children and they are only hurting the situation. She didn't dare mean to hurt Riley, but some things we just can't force can we? Let's all remember that, in every situation, parents to children (and vise versa), friends, and family. Love people for who they are, and try understanding their situation as if it were yours. I'll bet you'll have more compassion on them when you truly put yourself in their shoes.

Anyway, I had to run my rabbit. That said, pray for little Riley's leg. I was sad to leave him. He has been taken inside so that this can't happen again. Husband and I already love him so dearly, but we want to be sure that there will not be future complications as we know it would be very costly.

I know it may seem silly but we love Riley. We really do want you to pray for our sweet puppy!

How does your garden grow?

Husband and I have started a garden :) We planted our garden the third week in May (we think around Wednesday)... When we came home this is what we saw!

Now just a few short weeks later... Look what we have!

We picked a name...

Meet Riley!

Our new two week old boxer.

The boys and I made a visit today.

He was cooling by a tree :)

He has blue eyes, a brown ear, a black spot around one eye, and a brown tail :)

I love Riley. We can't wait to bring him home!
